If I’m being honest… if I could go back to my first HYROX, I’d do it very differently.
I wouldn’t care about my time. I wouldn’t be thinking about splits or results. And I wouldn’t be thinking about how I looked to other people.
I’d just enjoy it.
Your first race is something you don’t get back. Everything’s new - the atmosphere, the nerves, the crowd, the unknown of how it’s all going to feel.
That’s what makes it so good.
But it’s easy to get caught up in it. You start putting pressure on yourself, chasing a time, comparing to other people… and you kind of miss the whole point.
You’ll have plenty of races to take it seriously, push for times, and really go after performance.
But the first one…
Just take it in. Have fun with it. See what it’s all about.
No expectations, no pressure.
Just go out there and race.
