Division often gets framed as an agreement problem—as if the solution is simply convincing the other side. But people are always going to disagree. Different experiences lead to different perspectives. That part isn’t the problem. The real issue begins when disagreement turns into seeing each other as enemies instead of people trying to solve shared problems. Once we lose that sense of shared stake—our communities, our future—every disagreement starts to feel like a battle.
