A new chapter for Kentucky State University is arising. The Kentucky General Assembly has officially approved a bill to transition Kentucky State into a polytechnic institution — but not without major revisions to protect its legacy. 📍Originally, conversations around the bill raised concerns about potential closure and cultural erosion. After pushback from students, alumni, and supporters, lawmakers amended the bill to honor KSU’s historic foundation while creating a new path forward. —Founded in 1886 to educate Black teachers, KSU remains one of the nation’s 1890 land-grant HBCUs — and that legacy isn’t going anywhere.
