[Slide for some Cam and Max nastiness!] Just think about the Yankees’ rotation a few years ago. If you were to say that Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon would be out to start this season and in their place would be Max Fried and Cam Schlittler, you would wonder if somebody just pulled up their MLB The Show account. By all accounts, Max should still be in Atlanta, or the Cali kid joined Freeman with the Dodgers, and this Cam guy sounds like a made-up name with his stats maxed out. This is not a video game, though! It's reality! It’s still WAY too early, and a lot can happen between now and November. Still, as far as starts go, this was a great introduction to 2026. Given how strong the rotation looked in the Spring, it’s not a total surprise and doesn’t feel fluky. We shall see, of course. I wrote a little more about Cam and Max for SI!
