I sat next to a woman who was moving to Las Vegas for a job transfer. She was excited about the move and said she couldn’t wait to get out of Florida. I asked her why she was so excited to leave South Florida for Las Vegas, given that they were polar opposite environments. I can remember 5 of her reasons: 1. She needed a more diverse culture. She felt that there was a lot of close mindedness in the area she was in, and wanted to be around more open minded people. She had friends in Las Vegas who told her people are more open minded. 2. She can’t deal with the humidity anymore. She said there was no way to escape it when it’s bad. And when it’s bad, it’s just uncomfortable. 3. Driving can be extensive and can take forever to get from one part of her city to the other. She liked how compact Las Vegas is and that the freeways are quick and effective. 4.
