Opening April 16 at the New Orleans Jazz Museum: The First Piano Professors and the Lost Music of Early New Orleans.
Before jazz was named, it was already taking shape. This exhibition uncovers a lost world of 19th-century composers whose work blended African, Afro-Caribbean, Creole, and European influences, laying the foundation for what would become New Orleans music.
Featuring rare original sheet music, historic instruments, and newly recorded performances by curators John Davis and David Kunian. Opening night will also feature a live performance by Victor Campbell.
400 Esplanade Ave | Opens 4.16.26
