Val Harju is the operations supervisor at Alpine Bank New Castle. She’s also a wife, mother of eight and grandmother of nine. She’s been with the organization for 18 years, and many of her coworkers and customers say she’s the glue that holds the place together! Val reflects that the bank employees and their respective families all got closer in the past two years during the pandemic.
“Alpine Bank has been supportive of me raising my children, and now, of my time actively influencing my grandchildren. The bank has been so understanding with my work schedule and has accommodated all the school events and volunteer time at the schools and Valley View Hospital, family illness and so many other obligations and responsibilities that go along with being a working mom,” says Val. “And I’m incredibly proud that my kids have grown up and we now have two nurses, two engineers, two mothers and one dietician. We all still love to hang out together as often as we can.”
