The creation of this film became my greatest challenge as a filmmaker and most rewarding purpose as an athlete. Throughout the creative process of generating new ideas to tell the story of athletes who have used the sport of football to fight for social justice, we focused on a narrative that can be delivered through cinematography, spoken word, artistic expressions and honest voices. The goal is, and will always be to use storytelling as a tool to educate those who can’t relate to the black experience, honor those who have made the sacrifices and pave a way for the next generation to fight for equality, project their voices, and stand for what is right, by any means necessary. This is a Salute to Black History and a tribute to the 60 year anniversary since the civil rights act of 1964 was passed.
