Doctors thought it was a pregnancy symptom. It turned out to be stage 4 colon cancer. When Gabby Zappia noticed blood in her stool during pregnancy, her doctor suspected hemorrhoids a common pregnancy issue. But after she gave birth, a colonoscopy revealed advanced colorectal cancer that had already spread to her liver. She was just 36. After surgery, chemotherapy, and liver operations, Zappia was briefly declared cancer-free. But new tests later detected cancer activity again, and she’s now exploring clinical trials. She’s sharing her story to remind others to listen to their bodies and advocate for themselves when something doesn’t feel right.
