Someone told me something that changed the way I show up in every relationship I have. They said: “You’ll never find the same person twice. Not even in the same person.” Let that sit. If you lie to someone, betray someone, steal from someone and yes, you can steal emotionally, you can steal years from someone’s life even though that relationship may survive. You may even find your way back to each other. But the person you go back to? That’s not the same person you hurt. They’ve changed. They’ve protected themselves.
