A cozy taste of Poland, right in Chicago 🇵🇱✨ thekunafam visited U Gazdy, a traditional Highlander-style Polish restaurant, and went all in on the comfort food. It started with complimentary smalec and fresh bread—whipped lard with crispy bacon and onions. Pure heaven 🤍 There was rich, tangy żurek, quickly-devoured kielbasa, classic meat pierogi, giant placki ziemniaczane with sour cream and applesauce, and hearty gołąbki topped with creamy mushroom dill sauce. They finished with szarlotka—Polish apple pie piled high with ice cream and whipped cream 🥧 Overestimated the hunger… but the leftovers are winning tomorrow’s lunch.
