It’s National Public Health Week, and TCU has a program to improve maternal health outcomes for women.
TCU’s Burnett School of Medicine is collaborating with UT Southwestern Medical Center, Mayor Mattie Parker, the Child Poverty Action Lab and many other organizations in Tarrant and Dallas Counties through an initiative called the North Texas Maternal Health Accelerator (MHA). The MHA is looking to improve maternal health outcomes for women by addressing Severe Obstetric Complications, which is one of the leading causes of maternal morbidity, through medical research and providing maternal care resources for women before, during and after pregnancy.
Since December 2024, philanthropic partners across North Texas have committed nearly $25 million to support the Maternal Health Accelerator's initiatives.
