The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is moving ahead with plans to build a six-lane underpass tunnel beneath the runway of Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad to reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity. The proposed underground tunnel will be about 600 metres long and is part of a larger elevated corridor connecting Paradise Junction to Military Dairy Farm Road on NH-44. Authorities opted for an underground structure because an elevated road near the runway is not feasible. The project is expected to ease congestion, improve road alignment, and enhance travel across key areas like Secunderabad, Tadbund, and Bowenpally once completed.
