A study published in the journal Addiction found that, for the first time, 17.7 million Americans reported using marijuana daily or near-daily in 2022, compared to 14.7 million daily or near-daily drinkers. 🚬 Daily or near-daily marijuana use grew by 269% from 2008 to 2022, while the prevalence of daily or near-daily alcohol use actually fell by 7%. Alcohol is still more widely consumed overall, but 2022 marked the first year marijuana use outpaced “high intensity drinking.” Researcher Jonathan Caulkins noted that “a good 40% of current cannabis users are using it daily or near daily, a pattern that is more associated with tobacco use than typical alcohol use.” #Pubity #Viral #Studies
