But one thing always felt reliable: Cal men’s swimming and diving finishing among the top two teams at the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships. Well, say goodbye to all that felt right in the world — this season, the Bears placed seventh at the 2026 NCAA championships, ending a streak more than a decade long of top-two finishes. Cal ended the meet with 231 points, as the Texas Longhorns secured 1st with 445.5 points. While the final team standings fell short of Cal’s usual dominance, the NCAA championships featured national titles and 35 All-America honors, proof that this year simply might have been an outlier for the Bears.
