Where’s the Alpha fire truck? Tonight, crews from the Smithfield Fire Department (Huntington County Company 10) and Columbia Volunteer Fire Company (Clearfield County Company 22) are providing fire protection to the Centre Region while your Alphas enjoy our annual banquet. The crews of Rescue 10 and Truck 22 have been staffing the borough station since just before 4:00 p.m., handling an activated fire alarm and a building fire. We appreciate our mutual aid partners for covering the Centre Region. Just before 9:00 p.m. this evening, Rescue 10 and Truck 22 were dispatched to the 100 block of West College Avenue in State College for the reported building fire. Crews arrived to find a small fire in the rear of the structure, which was extinguished using a water can. The fire was contained to the area of origin with no extension. Crews operated for just under an hour; Chief 5-2 (S. Pedersen) held the command.
