A busy Saturday morning for the volunteers of Company 5, responding to 2 working dwelling fires. Just before 3:00 a.m., Company 5 was dispatched to the 1000 block of Seibert Road in Benner Township to assist Company 56 (Bellefonte Fire Department) with a reported dwelling fire. The fire was quickly placed under control by the initial arriving units. Engine 5-1 conducted a primary search and assisted with overhaul before being released in just under an hour. Later in the morning, just after 8:00 a.m., Company 5 was dispatched to the 100 block of Greens Valley Road in Spring Township to assist Company 8 (Pleasant Gap) with a reported basement fire. Engine 5-1 and Rescue 5 responded with 10 personnel. Crews assisted with fire attack and extensive overhaul. After being exposed to heavy fire conditions, the floor of two rear bedrooms caved in to the basement; crews worked extensively to overhaul this area. Companies operated for just over 2 hours.
