Texas Tech baseball avoided a series sweep with an 11-2 victory over the University of Houston Saturday afternoon at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park. Following a pitching battle that ensued in the first five innings, Tech reclaimed the lead in the sixth inning. The scoring window became an opportunity to build on as Tech added seven runs in the seventh inning before reaching the agreed drop-dead time. The Red Raiders took the nine-run lead in the eighth inning — one run away from claiming a run-rule victory. Instead, the game reached the cutoff at 3:15 p.m. to allow more time for Houston to travel home.
