On October 28, 1990, WWF President Jack Tunney appeared on Wrestling Challenge and suspended Rick Rude indefinitely for making degrading comments about Big Boss Man’s mother. The angle had been started by Bobby Heenan, who began insulting Boss Man’s mother on television. Rude backed up Heenan’s statements and was subsequently suspended by Tunney. As a result of the suspension, Rude was pulled from the Natural Disasters team at Survivor Series 1990 and replaced by Haku.
