As the Strait of Hormuz remains closed due to the Iran War — halting nearly 20% of the world’s oil supply — average gas prices in the U.S. have soared to more than $4 a gallon. The average gas price in California is now $5.929 per gallon. In the Bay Area, some areas have even surpassed $6. Because of this, campus senior Thomas Files has switched to taking BART whenever possible, as his almost daily 46-mile round commute from San Ramon to campus is no longer financially sustainable. “At the beginning of the semester, it would be $37 for a full tank, and I would pay that maybe once a week for about nine gallons,” Files said. “But recently, I filled up my tank and it was $55 for the same nine gallons.” Read more through the link in bio. ✍️: Phoebe Vo 📸: James Bitner . . . #ucberkeley #dailycal #berkeley #straitofhormuz #iran #bart
