People ask me how I live the way I do. How I ‘broke out of the system.’ But the truth is… I tried really hard to be “normal”. I tried to fit into it. To find my place inside it. To make it make sense. It just never really did. Because I was raised wild. I was raised where children are seen AND heard. I was taught that little girls are strong and fierce, and grow into women who are bold and wise. I was taught to think critically. To question. To look for what sits beneath the surface of things. I never trusted the government. I never believed in the system. I was always aware of injustice and inequality. I was never blind to ‘the matrix’. I was raised to be human. And being human isn’t actually very compatible with today’s society. I live the way I was raised, in a lot of ways. Rooted in where I’m from even when I’m far away. Learning how to balance the reality of our world while still honouring my nature, my heart. And with that I guess I get to remind people there is ano...
