Rhododendrons more than 100 years old are blooming at Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden in Southeast Portland. The 9.5-acre garden sits between Reed College and a golf course and is filled with blooming rhododendrons, lake reflections, footbridges and birds.
Opened to the public in 1950, the garden is home to more than 2,500 rhododendrons, azaleas and companion plants, along with plenty of wildlife. In early April, visitors can catch the ‘Early Show’ of blooming rhododendrons, along with ducks, geese and other birds using the area as a stopover. Admission is $8.95 for adults, $5.95 for students and free for children 5 and younger.
