But for decades, it was missing one of the most valuable things a community can have: it’s very own professional soccer team. Last night, after generations of waiting, Idaho finally got to welcome AC Boise home. Over 7,000 eager supporters showed up at Expo Idaho — which was turned from a former horse race track into a soccer-specific stadium in under a year — to take in this monumental occasion. The River Guard set the tone in the stands with flares, drums, and chants that echoed across the land, celebrating the arrival of a dream that had once seemed far-fetched. Even down on the pitch, it was difficult not to get a bit emotional seeing how much it meant to everyone present.
