Friday Deload, this is what training smart actually looks like.
Let’s clear a common misunderstanding:
a deload doesn’t mean stopping, skipping, or “doing nothing.”
It means changing the goal.
Friday during a deload week is designed for blood flow, recovery, and readiness not strength or progression.
Why this matters (especially as we get older):
• Blood flow helps muscles recover faster
• Moderate loads protect joints while keeping muscles active
• Slower tempo reduces wear on knees, hips, and lower back
• Constant tension keeps muscles “on” without draining the nervous system
• Leaving the gym feeling better improves consistency long-term
Yes it still burns 😅
But it’s the right kind of burn.
The one that helps the body recover instead of stealing from the next workout.
What today’s Friday deload actually looked like:
• Hip thrusts: pump style, steady tempo to drive blood into the glutes
• Step-ups: controlled reps to restore hip stability
• B-stance RDL: slow stretch to ease ...
