Yesterday’s Wednesday workout looked… underwhelming. And that was the assignment. Deload week isn’t about disappearing from the gym. It’s about changing how you show up. At this age 50, I’ve learnt the hard way that the body doesn’t reward constant aggression. It rewards listening, timing, and respect. So Wednesday wasn’t about burning calories or chasing soreness. It was about: • keeping my movement patterns clean • letting my nervous system calm down • maintaining muscle without piling on fatigue • and making sure my joints don’t start sending angry emails 😅 I still trained just with intention. Yesterday’s deload session (same moves, lower stress): • Glute-biased leg press :no top set, slow controlled reps • Bulgarian split squats: steady tempo, balance over weight • B-stance hip thrust: lighter loads, squeeze without forcing lockout • B-stance RDL: long stretch, no rushing, no ego • Lying hamstring curl: smooth reps, full control The tempo mattered.
