We went over budget on travel this year and I don’t regret it! Our original joint annual travel budget was $10,000, but ended up spending 15% more, totaling $11,761. While that might sound like a lot (or maybe not enough, depending on your perspective), every dollar was well spent, and we enjoyed every moment of it. Next year, I plan to increase our travel budget to better reflect reality. I under-consume in most other spending categories to focus on what matters most to us: travel.
