As one of the 300,000 Black women, I can tell you, this is not a job market issue. This is a systemic issue. Black women are consistently being pushed out, laid off, or forced to leave corporate America in droves. And with government layoffs layered on top, the message is loud and clear: it’s systemic. So many of us are building businesses not because we wanted to, but because more often than not, we had to. Survival, not only ambition, is what fuels entrepreneurship for so many Black women. And here’s the part we can’t ignore: when we’re the first ones cut, our progress disappears with us — equity, leadership, representation, pay fairness.
