I don’t think it’s fair to depend getting your PhD on whether or not you have published any of your science 📑 A PhD is meant to teach people how to be independent researchers 👩🔬 Just because your science hasn’t (yet) resulted in a publication 🧫 doesn’t mean you haven’t learned the skills required of you to be a scientist 🤓

And if it’s the scientific writing you’re worried about 🤔 each PhD student still writes an ENTIRE book 🤯 before defending 😅 So problem solved! 😊

I do think it’s a good idea to incentivize publishing research 😊 because I believe in open science and sharing your work with the world 🤩 So maybe some sort of bonus system could be created? 👀 I’m not sure how exactly 😂 but I think it’s better than failing students because sometimes science doesn’t work 😊
