This is not saying that industry doesn’t have these things!! ☝🏼 In fact, I’m sure that industry does have (a lot if not) all of these things too 😊 I just want to shine some positivity on doing a PhD 🤓 ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ There’s a lot of negativity around doing a PhD 👩‍🔬 and working in academia in general 😢 I’ve been guilty of doing it too 😅 Making fun of the negatives is a good way of coping with them 😇 But I want to make it clear that my PhD held a lot of positives too 😊 And these are just a few I could think up off the top of my head 🧠 ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ And maybe saying I had “total” control over my research project during my PhD is a bit of a stretch 😅 But when I compare it to how I’m experiencing working in industry 🧬 I had A LOT more influence during my PhD about what I studied 😊 Of course this comes with its downsides of feeling totally and utterly lost sometimes 😂 but it’s okay!
