Andrej Karpathy — former OpenAI co-founder and the engineer behind Tesla’s AI — just released a dataset analyzing how exposed different jobs are to AI. He mapped thousands of roles across the US economy and scored them from 0 to 10 based on how easily AI could automate the work.
The pattern is simple: jobs that happen mostly on a computer score the highest, while physical, hands-on work scores the lowest. Across all roles, the average exposure is about 5.3 out of 10, meaning a large portion of the workforce is already affected by AI automation trends.
