We’re grateful to everyone for your collaboration and shared commitment to Urbana. Mayor-elect DeShawn Williams will officially be sworn in on May 5, 2025, during the City Council meeting. Highlights include: 🔶 Partnered with the NAACP Champaign County to create the 10 Principles of Community Policing and began developing an alternative response model. 🔶 Improved infrastructure and road safety by increasing accessibility and connectivity — including constructing the Green Street Corridor, improving roads, sidewalks, and ramps, and implementing measures to discourage speeding. 🔶 Navigated the pandemic by minimizing the spread of COVID-19, providing outdoor spaces, supporting local healthcare systems, and distributing rent, utility, and food assistance. 🔶 Allocated ARPA funds to 25 organizati...
