I’m often asked why advocacy matters so deeply to me. I am a proud daughter of immigrants. My parents were immigrants. My grandparents were immigrants. I’ve witnessed firsthand the sacrifices, the resilience, and the quiet strength of generations who didn’t always have the opportunity or safety to speak up, stand firm, or be heard. That history lives with me. It’s why I believe advocacy is not just a privilege, but a responsibility. In a time when immigrants are too often met with misunderstanding or hostility, it’s important to remember this truth: immigrants are the backbone of our country.
