As the KSA Women’s Representative I was fortunate to co-host an event with the Fraser Health team SAHI (South Asian Health Institute) Today’s event was called KSA X SAHI Community Dialogue: Mental Health in South Asian Communities. Mental health is a topic that resonates deeply with all of us, especially within South Asian communities. It’s a subject often shrouded in silence, and the cultural stigma can make it challenging to address openly. Today’s event aimed to break that silence. We were here to engage with post-secondary students about the mental health challenges specific to South Asian communities, discuss the impact on our well-being, and explore the services available. This dialogue was not just about acknowledging the challenges but also about finding solutions and supporting each other.
