As a solo female traveller, I was told I should expect: Street harassment, getting the “tourist” price, uncomfortable public transport, dirty accommodation, overcrowding, smelly streets, air pollution etc. I'm not denying these issues aren't real. They exist and I have experienced some of them myself. But I just can't ignore the fact that the country has soooo much more to offer. Beautiful landmarks, fascinating religion, delectable food, beautiful nature, friendly people, massive culture shock, crazy festivals. I think it's important to be careful, but never fearful.
