Today is World Diabetes Day. I’ve lived with T1D for 23 years, and with no known cause or cure yet, I’m hopeful we’ll see one in my lifetime.
I was incredibly grateful to be the Storyteller at last night’s 52nd Annual Promise Gala, where over $2 million was raised to continue the fight for a cure. Thank you breakthrought1d aaronjkowalski allisonaston
T1D can be relentless — it doesn’t care if it’s your birthday, your anniversary, or if it’s 2/3/4/5am. It can feel so random, and that’s what I hoped to show last night through a few behind-the-scenes videos of daily life with T1D. Here are some of them — and of course the last slide is proof that my pod chose to expire halfway through the gala!
Despite everything, I’m incredibly grateful for the treatment options that have come through in my lifetime and for the amazing T1D community that makes this journey lighter.
Here’s to the future — and to a future without T1D. 💙
