The moment you get past the “ugly phase” painting becomes such a joy. Yesterday, I decided to paint a bit more loosely than I usually do. But the down side is, I usually get frustrated when the colors seem to be too much. If I chose to stop at that stage, I’m left with wasted paper. And time. But the beauty of watercolor painting is — if you let it all settle for a while, you can go back to it and apply techniques to soften the colors. Led me to reflect on life… The uglies are just part of the journey towards something good.
