When I first moved here, I felt a subtle pressure to fit in with everything, including holidays I didn’t really connect with. At first, I told myself it was harmless fun, but eventually, I had to sit down and have a real conversation with myself about what I actually believe and stand for as a Christian. Maturing is being able to confidently say, “I don’t celebrate Halloween because it doesn’t align with my values,” and not feel the need to explain further.
