Your iPhone is NOT private in the UK š³šØ Hereās whatās happening ⤵ļø
Earlier this year, the UK government pressured Apple to remove Advanced Data Protection, the strongest form of end-to-end encryption for iCloud.
š With end-to-end encryption, only you hold the keys.
š Without it, Apple holds the keys. That means your iCloud backups photos, notes, files, even messages if theyāre in your backup, can be handed over if law enforcement asks.
So no, the government canāt ālive spyā on your phone. But your stored data in iCloud is no longer truly private in the UK.
In August, the UK backed down on its demand for a permanent backdoor. But Apple hasnāt yet restored the feature⦠which means for now, if youāre in the UK, your iCloud backups arenāt protected with full end-to-end encryption.
