Great news to celebrate the New Year. In a year of record giving, three local charities have received $64,800 in the latest round of funding to kick their New Year's projects off. This funding offers hope for the recovery of several endangered species of great importance to Queensland. The North Queensland Wildlife Trust (NQWT) has helped many researchers and local conservation groups since its inception in 2004. Each application is assessed on its worthiness to conserve native species and local habitats. Established by the Freeman family who own and operate Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures, Kuranda Koala Gardens and Birdworld Kuranda, the Trust is focused very much on grass roots conservation efforts, hands on wildlife care, critical habitat acquisition, conservation, research and preservation.
