Why is Scandinavian Style so popular in the US? 🇩🇰🇸🇪🇳🇴 As a Danish-American growing up in California, no one even knew what the country Denmark was. So I’ve been especially atune to this recent change in perception from the American market. In recent years, being “Scandinavian” has risen with WILD POPULARITY. But why? As a Marketer & Danish-American, I broke it down: - Scandinavia and Denmark have always been leaders in style, design, and fashion, but it wasn’t widely known unless you were in that world. - Shorter trend cycles from the rise of social made the ability to bring trends from Scandinavia almost instantaneous (instead of the years it used to take when I was growing up) - Rise of Scandinavian Influencers like Matilda Djerf made the lifestyle aspirational - Americans started craving slow living and wanted to “escape” after 2020 bc of how much we slowed down during lockdown. - So, Americans started gravitating towards other cultures that embodied slow living! ie...
