Black sisterhood heals 💕 I woke up on Saturday and sat in bed trying to come up with a Women’s Day post but it felt inauthentic to me because I didn’t feel like celebrating this year. Given the current climate we’re in and the nature of my research studying Black women, I simply wanted to sit this one out. But I told myself, well you should at least do something today that brings you joy. So I decided to go to Austin to the @fanmdjanm women’s day event. My motivation to go was also to see my PhD friend @thedoc.student who I invited to come along with me to the event. We both met online 3 years ago and we’ve been doing this PhD life together because we realized that we both needed sisterhood in our journey. On my way to Austin, I tried to fight the guilt of taking a day off from my dissertation.
