At 14 years old, when I decided to “become a lawyer who advocates for Black people” I had no idea what that really meant. I’d NEVER met a lawyer, couldn’t name a single law school, and had no idea what becoming a lawyer required. But I DID understand injustice, and having recently escaped an extreme and sheltered religious society.. the casualty of racial injustice in “the outside world” was glaringly obvious—even to my young eyes. And in oldest daughter form, I decided to *DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.* Fast forward, and I became the first person in my family to go to college, and then graduated from the #14 law school in the country georgetownlawofficial , and eventually began working for the best civil rights law firm in the country for Black rights— naacp_ldf . There’s so much more to my story and a *million* mishaps along the way but l’m proud to be a reminder that even with EVERYTHING against you—and I literally mean EVERYTHING—you can overcome and create the life you want! 💪🏾 We...
