For a child, they may not be able to articulate how they are feeling. Their mood can be so greatly affected and for many the last thing they will put it down to is poo- or lack there of. So if your child is off form, poor appetite, agitated etc then ask the question… ‘Did you poo today?’ Parents will often describe to me that their child is like a new person after having a poo- mood is so much better, they eat all round them onky then for a couple of days later and no poo for the form to go down hill and complain of being hungry but then full after a few bites. Constipation can look different in children - many will even poo lots (of tiny/small poos) throughout the day.
