Have I just found my newest favorite Queen Anne Victorian home in Southern California? And it was built in the….1980s?! This, my lovely lil history creeps, is the Newhall Mansion in Piru, CA. Just a short road trip up the 5 and then the 126 (insert a line from the SNL ‘Californians’ sketch here) and you’ll arrive at this beauty. A home that was so beloved, that when it burnt down from a freak painting accident in 1981, the owners rebuilt it brick by brick to near exact specifications to the original built a century earlier. The home is now a very popular event space and wedding venue, and after visiting, I can absolutely see why. The intricacy in the woodwork, the stained glass, and the gorgeous accommodations, NOT TO MENTION the insane dungeon/basement of my DREAMS (not featured in the video because some things should remain a surprise) has rendered this the only place I would have chosen over my actual wedding venue, which…says a lot.
