This trail at point dume is one of the closest things I’ve done to hiking as a wheelchair user. In my childhood I used to hike with my family all the time, we even did a multi day hike on the Appalachian trail.
Getting over my internal ableism and using a power chair has given me a spark of independence that has truly changed me.
Just because I’m a disability advocate and a mental health professional doesn’t mean I don’t face my own battles. I think that it’s important to share that. This is real life, not just the picture perfect social media 🫶🏼☀️
