After seeing the viral Smoked Pastrami Bánh Mì all over my feed, I made my way to Glendora Public Market in SoCal to grab one from Gold Banh. While waiting for my sandwich, I noticed the food stall next door, And Broth, serving a Bún Bò Huế–style sandwich that looked way too good to pass up, so we had to order that one too. They also had a Phở Sandwich on the menu, but by the time we finished these two we were way too stuffed to try it.
Both sandwiches were seriously tasty, and I thought the flavors came together really well. I always enjoy seeing these creative Vietnamese fusion dishes because they remind me of the kinds of things I love experimenting with in my own kitchen. Being a Vietnamese American in California, I’ve been lucky to grow up around so many different food cultures, and it’s fun to see those influences come together in new and unexpected ways. Totally inspired to make my own versions at home! 😍
