This post has been 7 years in the making… starting with an incredible deep dive experience in 2016 at thnkschool in Amsterdam, to a fortuitous sidewalk bounce up in 2018 with my long time friend haswatt, to the launch of spool.community (finally!) on April 11th 2023 💫 With the tremendous support of our partners at IDB Lab el_bid cncockburnreptt vashtie.tt & livingwatertto we have begun training our first Spöol cohort of participants to produce for the fashion & carnival industries, with the aim to provide these women with the skills necessary to access sustainable livelihood opportunities. This week the #UNHCR refugees TT team visited to see the work that’s being done at spool.community and we are thrilled to see the expanding possibilities that are being created for the both the migrant and refugee communities as well as our local community of at risk women here in Trinidad as a result of this integration programme.
