My best friend and partner @wyattgallery who also happens to be co-founder of @forfreedoms interviewed me for the FFTV Election Day takeover of @moca yesterday to share some more about my billboard “Mokos Stand Tall” currently installed in Atlanta, Georgia for the nationwide For Freedoms #The2020Awakening Billboard campaign in partnership with @thisisunfinished & @orange_barrel_media . In addition to the myriad of ways that I believe our Caribbean culture can be a healing in this collectively traumatic moment in history, I wanted to mention (and forgot to say) that the word “Moko” means healer in its original central African language. Perhaps subconsciously I chose to channel this powerful symbol from our carnival vernacular because there is nothing that seems more needed in this moment than a healing.
