SWIPE FOR THE GLOW UP. 2 years ago my monstera was on its way to heaven. The leaf size started to shrink and some of the lower leaves started to go brown.
Hours and hours of research have helped me figure out exactly what it needed. And one thing I realised is that you have to try and replicate the natural environment where these plants would usually grow.
Monsteras are hemepiphytes which means they grow on much larger host trees. They have thick roots that need a lot of oxygen.
After learning about a monsteras natural habitat, I created some moss poles for the roots to attach to and changed my soil mix to include chunky bark that would leave gaps for oxygen to get into.
Two years later and the result speak for themself! 😄 I’ve honestly never seen an indoor monstera grow this big. I don’t think I could even get it out the door if I tried now.
