Absolutely in love with how this project turned out! And so interesting to see the progress each week in each photo. From design through to execution this project has been a tough one though. As you can see in the first pic, the site was infested with weeds and sat on a steep hill with limited flat land. On top of that, we were dealing with a clay soil which hardened like rock when it baked in the sun and would kill most plants within weeks. Our process to flatten the land, take out the weeds and restore the soil was all completed by hand. Very labour intensive but a great way to exercise. Plant selection was also very important. Our client wanted something low maintenance so we decided to choose mostly Australian natives. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of Australian native trees and bushes but this project has shown me that Australia really has some amazing plants and natural beauty (we’ve just mostly chopped it down or haven’t typically used it in our gardens and parklands...
